Recreation Therapy

Recreation Therapy is a process that utilizes functional intervention, education and recreation participation to enable persons with physical, cognitive, emotional and/or social limitations to acquire and/or maintain the skills, knowledge and behaviours that will allow them to enjoy their leisure optimally, function independently with the least amount of assistance and participate as fully as possible in society.

Our programs at Memories+ Adult Day Program are developed and implemented by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist who uses activities and recreation as a means to promote wellness and improve quality of life in adults. The Recreation Therapist at Memories+ organizes all guest therapists, special events, outings and regular programming. All activities are planned to meet the specific goals and needs of our members. Our staff document all participation and provide family members with a individualized report including a current therapeutic goal for that member that is being worked on.
